Participatory Action Research the long and windy road: Experiences of letting go of control

In this session we will discuss our experiences of undertaking Participatory Action Research (PAR) highlighting the benefits and pitfalls we have faced along the way. The decision for a local authority to commission such a ‘bottom-up’ research was a great leap of faith which was taken in order to better understand the local culture and context. We will provide perspectives from commissioners, academic researchers and community researchers – mothers-to-be, who during the course of the study became mothers.
